SANDRA

What drew Sandra to the role was her extroverted and nerdy nature as well as her unrelenting love for coding. The MultiChoice group has always been home to her, it’s where her career began and has shaped the professional that she has become. ‘It also helps that the same person who was my boss when I first joined the company, remains my boss to this day. He has played a critical role in helping me become one of the country’s best Data Analysts. I also resonate a great deal with what Multichoice has to offer to South Africa. I believe in our product and our potential to grow and remain relevant in the hearts of South Africans.’ Women’s Month is usually a time to reflect on the strides made by women in various fields, and the support they have been given to ensure optimal performance and the sharing of knowledge and skills with others. Sandra speaks of an enabling environment that allows her to do what she loves on her chosen platform, and implement her ideas without limitations or disruptions, that freedom, she says, speaks to the empowerment embraced by women in this day and age, particularly in the historical context of what Women’s Month means in South Africa. ‘What this freedom means to me, is that I am not just viewed as a woman, but I am recognised for my intellectual capabilities and every other quality and skill I bring to the table, which is essentially what every woman hopes for; to be seen for how brilliant we are. As somebody who sits in boardrooms with executives, I feel valued for what I have to offer, it’s also important for me to feel that my voice is heard and considered in every aspect of the business-making. MultiChoice has done an excellent job in fostering the kind of environment where everyone is valued and respected, not on the basis of their gender, but the quality of the work they bring into the organisation.’ As somebody who enjoys interactions with people and culture, when she’s not engaging in intricate stakeholder meetings, she has immersed herself in the Culture Committee that is currently working on reigniting the culture of MultiChoice and bringing it back to its former position in the hearts of South Africans.

When talking about her plans for the next five years, Sandra insists that she is happiest and alive when she knows that she is making a difference in the spaces she already exists in, she’s not about chasing money or material things, but rather making a positive impact in the lives of those with whom she works and co-exists. ‘In the next five years, I’d like to look back and beam with pride at the difference I’ve made in the business and the world at large.’
