Lewatle: HEREFORHER

Working in the Human Resources department means having to put the needs of the people in the organization first and Sharon has kept to that since her appointment. She states that no business can enact a strategy that does not align with the peoples’ needs and it is HR’s job to make sure the people are on board. Every strategy the business comes up with should also focus on how it will uplift the people involved and with that, they have come up with programs and tools to assist with many instances such as sexual harassment. They have openeda safe space for people to get educated about mental health and sexual harassment as well as offering counselling services to people who feel overwhelmed or not at the best. Sharon hopes to usher in more safe spaces for people to learn and grow in the workplace and through the efforts she makes it, her hard work has never gone unnoticed. She has made sure to create a safe space for female workers at all times and opened up channels of communication should there be any problems that arise. Her contributions to the voices of women —whether in big or small positions — being heard is remarkable and commendable as she brings light to issues that are normally ignored or never taken into consideration.

SHARON

Sharon and her team alongside the Chief People Officer, TshepisoMalatjie and Executive Head of Talent Management, has focused their agenda on driving forward female empowerment in the workplace by offering women the chance to elevate their position through the Top Leaders Program. The Top Leaders Program is meant to uplift 13 women handpicked by the CPO, through a training course for 1-2 years to prepare them for senior positions in the MultiChoice group. This program is meant to bring more gender diversity in leadershippositions that have been historically held by men. Sharon has also highlighted the importance of having a workplace that prioritizes the mental health of its workers, which is why there is a wellness center with specialists and doctors for people who need counselling as well as support groups, all at no cost. Sharon has always been a supporter and an advocate for women and having to be a part of the here for her campaign is such a huge honor as she gets to inspire many women through her story. She hopes more women get the support she needed when she was younger and the chance to feel empowered even when they are not certain about their career path. Having done so many phenomenal things for the upliftment of women, we are proud to honor and celebrate Sharon Beharriefor this Women’s month.
